The Crucible

Arthur Miller’s The Crucible is a dramatisation of the 17th century Salem witch trials, entered around a strict Puritanical community torn apart by fear and paranoia. Set ‘in the round’, the ensemble of performers are on the stage for the entire time – a community immersed in an ecstatic, sacrificial ritual. They hunt for a scapegoat, and together decide who will be punished and who will be saved.
